Finger Acropora
Acropora humilis
Care Summary
Finger Acropora is a low-profile, corymbose branching species with thick, stubby branches and prominent corallites — it's one of the tougher Acropora for a high-light tank and tends to stay compact and manageable in size. High light and high flow at the top of the tank; the thick branch structure handles stronger direct flow better than most delicate Acros, but it still wants turbulent, multi-directional movement. humilis is prone to boring STN at the base if nutrients climb or flow is reduced — the tissue dies without much warning, starting at the skeleton contact points on the rockwork. Keep it elevated on a plug or frag rack to maximize water movement around the base and spot feed weekly with a fine particulate food to sustain polyp extension and pigmentation.
