The Black Sea Cucumber is a hardworking sand sifter that processes substrate continuously, turning over detritus and keeping sandbed chemistry stable. It is reef-safe with corals and fish but should not be kept with triggers, puffers, or any aggressive fish that will pester or injure it. The critical concern is evisceration under stress, if harassed or exposed to poor water quality, it can release toxins that crash a tank, so acclimate slowly and maintain pristine parameters. No target feeding is needed as it grazes constantly on organic matter in the sand, but a healthy, mature sandbed is essential for its survival.
