Blue Linkia Starfish
Linkia laevigata
Reef Safe
With Caution
Care Summary
The Blue Linkia Starfish is one of the most visually arresting sea stars in the trade, with a vivid cobalt blue body and arms that stand out in any reef display. It is considered reef-safe and will not bother corals, but it demands pristine water quality, a very large and mature tank of at least 100 gallons, and an established ecosystem rich in microfauna to have a realistic chance of long-term survival. Blue Linkia are notoriously difficult to keep: they are extremely sensitive to acclimation, often arrive from collection in poor condition, and starve in tanks that lack sufficient natural food, making them a poor choice for beginners. Drip-acclimate for a minimum of two hours, inspect for signs of white lesions or arm recession before purchase, and supplement feeding with targeted meaty foods several times per week from day one.
