Care Summary
Cerith Snails are slender, spiral-shelled grazers that work the sand surface, glass, and rockwork for diatoms, cyanobacteria, and detritus in reef and FOWLR tanks. They are reef-safe, peaceful, and breed readily in captivity, making them one of the few cleanup crew members that can self-sustain a small population in a healthy tank. They are small and not particularly robust, so avoid keeping them with aggressive fish or large hermit crabs that will prey on them or steal their shells. In a well-established tank they feed largely on their own, but supplement with algae flakes or fine particulate foods if the tank is clean and algae growth is sparse.
