Care Summary
Chromodoris nudibranchs are among the most photographed marine animals in the hobby, with their vivid blue, white, and black patterns making them look almost artificial against live rock. Like all nudibranchs, they are dietary specialists that feed on specific sponge species in the wild, and without a continuous supply of those exact sponges they will slowly starve regardless of how good your water quality is. Be honest with yourself before buying one: unless you have a very mature, sponge-rich reef or access to an ongoing supply of aquacultured sponge material, this animal will not survive more than a few weeks. For those who insist on keeping them, target-feed with small pieces of live or fresh sponge material directly and monitor body weight closely, as thinning mantle edges are the first sign of starvation.
