Care Summary

The Durban Dancing Shrimp, sometimes called the Camel Shrimp or Hinge-Beak Shrimp, is a beautifully patterned red-and-white shrimp that's named for its characteristic rocking, dancing movement when feeding. It's reef-safe and peaceful, doing best in groups of three or more where it feels secure enough to come out during the day and display its natural social behavior. The one thing to keep in mind is that large, aggressive shrimp or fish that pick on smaller inverts will stress this species quickly, so choose tankmates that are known to leave shrimp alone. Feed it small meaty foods like mysis, brine shrimp, or finely chopped seafood every few days, and you'll regularly see that signature dancing behavior as it competes with its groupmates for food.
