Care Summary
The Medusa Worm is a burrowing sipunculan that extends a mass of writhing, tentacle-like feeding appendages from the substrate, creating one of the most unusual displays in the invert hobby. It is harmless to corals and fish, lives buried in sand or rubble, and is best displayed in a low-flow zone where its feeding appendages can extend without being swept away. The challenge is simply getting customers comfortable with its strange appearance, once they understand what it is, most find it fascinating rather than alarming. No special feeding is required since it scavenges fine organic particles from the substrate and water column, but it does best in a tank with regular feeding of other inhabitants to maintain detritial input.
