Orange Linckia Starfish
Linckia nodosa
Care Summary
The Orange Linckia is a bold, warm-toned sea star that roams open rockwork in search of biofilm, bacteria, and organic detritus, and its rich orange coloration makes it a striking centerpiece in a large, established reef display. Like all Linckia stars, it requires a very mature tank with a dense, active microfauna community and stable, pristine parameters to survive long-term in captivity. This species is arguably even more delicate than the blue Linckia during transport and acclimation, so inspect it carefully before purchase for signs of arm damage, soft spots, or unusual odor, and drip-acclimate for at least two to three hours. No direct feeding is typically needed in a thriving, mature system, but placing it in a section of rock with visible coralline growth and biofilm will help it forage successfully.
