Care Summary
Reef Lobsters, including the various Enoplometopus species, are jewel-toned crustaceans that stay under six inches and are far more manageable in size than their spiny or slipper cousins. They need a tank of at least 50 gallons with plenty of caves and crevices, and should not be trusted with small fish or invertebrates since they are opportunistic predators that will grab anything within reach after dark. They are primarily nocturnal and may rarely be seen during the day, so plan your feeding schedule around their active hours and be patient if they are shy at first. Offer meaty foods like frozen mysis, krill, and chopped seafood two to three times weekly, and make sure food gets near their den entrance so they can find it during their nightly forays.
