Care Summary
The Stomatella Snail is a small, limpet-like grazer with a reduced flat shell, and one of the best naturally reproducing herbivores that can establish itself in a healthy reef tank. They are entirely reef-safe, reproduce readily in captivity, and their populations self-regulate based on available food, making them a genuinely beneficial addition that you often get for free on live rock. Because they are small and soft-bodied, they are vulnerable to predation by wrasses, dottybacks, and many carnivorous reef fish, so tank compatibility depends heavily on the fish community present. In a system without heavy predation they feed themselves on biofilm and microalgae without any intervention needed, making them one of the lowest-maintenance cleanup crew members available.
