Care Summary
The Sundial Snail is a disc-shaped predatory snail that looks attractive but is one of the few snails you actively do not want in a reef tank, as it preys specifically on zoanthids and palythoa corals. This species should never be added to a reef system with zoas or other soft corals, and any found hitchhiking on coral frags should be removed immediately before they cause damage. In a fish-only or species-only display tank it can be kept by hobbyists interested in predatory invertebrates, but the lack of suitable coral-based prey makes long-term care challenging without a deliberate feeding plan. If you are keeping one intentionally, feed with small pieces of soft coral tissue or target meaty foods placed directly in front of the snail, and monitor closely to ensure it is eating and maintaining body condition.
