Care Summary
The Whip Coral Shrimp is a tiny, translucent commensal shrimp with delicate red and white markings that make it nearly invisible against the whip corals it calls home. It's completely reef-safe and peaceful, but it lives in an obligate relationship with whip corals, so you need a thriving gorgonian or similar whip coral host in your system before adding it. This species is small and easy to overlook even when you're looking for it, so placing the host coral in a prominent, well-lit spot in the tank will help you actually enjoy the shrimp you've paid for. It filter-feeds on fine particulate matter passing through the water column, so regular dosing of reef roids, oyster eggs, or phytoplankton near the host coral keeps it in good condition.
