Blue Assessor

Care Summary

The Blue Assessor is a peaceful, cave-dwelling fish that spends most of its time hovering upside-down under ledges; build your aquascape with overhangs and it will reward you by being visible all day. It stays small at around 2 inches and can be kept in tanks as small as 20 gallons, making it one of the best nano reef options for reefers who want something unusual. Multiple specimens can be kept together in larger tanks; they do not school tightly but coexist without serious aggression unlike dottybacks in the same size range. Feed frozen mysis and small meaty foods twice daily; it feeds in midwater and will not compete with aggressive surface feeders, so target-feed near its cave if necessary.
