Care Summary
The Blue Tang needs 100+ gallons as a full-grown adult; do not let the juvenile size fool you into thinking this fish stays small. Quarantine is non-negotiable: this species carries and expresses ich more readily than almost any other fish in the hobby, and adding it directly to a display will seed your system. Strong flow, nori clips, and open swimming space keep it healthy; tangs that are underfed on algae pick at everything including corals out of nutritional desperation. Introduce it to multi-tang displays carefully, ideally last and after rearranging rockwork so no fish has an established territory advantage.
