Care Summary

The Candy Basslet is a tiny, jewel-like Caribbean fish that rarely exceeds 2 inches; it is reef-safe, peaceful, and one of the most sought-after nano reef fish in the hobby. It spends most of its time in the lower half of the tank near rockwork, so design your aquascape with caves and overhangs where it will feel secure enough to venture out during the day. Captive-bred specimens are available and far preferable to wild-caught; wild fish from deep water often struggle with the pressure transition and arrive in poor condition. Feed frozen mysis and small meaty foods twice daily; it will not compete aggressively at feeding time so target-feed to ensure it gets its share.
