Care Summary

The Pajama Cardinal is a peaceful, unusual-looking fish with its spotted rear half and red eye that adds a distinctive character to community reef tanks. Keep it in groups of three or more in 30+ gallons; lone specimens are shy and prone to hiding while groups show natural milling behavior and spend more time visible in the open. They prefer low flow and shade; position them away from high-flow areas and near caves or overhangs where they can retreat; a Pajama Cardinal in a high-flow SPS tank will be chronically stressed. Feed frozen mysis and small meaty foods twice daily; they are not aggressive feeders so target the group and make sure they are not being pushed out by faster tankmates.
