Care Summary

The Spotted Cardinalfish has a distinctive orbicular body shape with a large black spot behind the dorsal fin; it is peaceful, reef-safe, and one of the better group-kept cardinals for community tanks. Keep three or more in 30+ gallons; groups mill together loosely and spend more time in the open than solo specimens that tend to hide near the rockwork. They prefer low to moderate flow and avoid high-energy areas of the tank; position them with access to calm zones and shelter so they can spend time visible in the open without fighting the current. Feed frozen mysis and small meaty foods twice daily; they are not aggressive feeders so target the group directly and ensure they are getting adequate food relative to faster tankmates.
