Pixy Hawkfish

Care Summary

The Pixy Hawkfish is a small, spotted hawkfish that perches on coral heads and rockwork; it is bold and interactive but will eat any ornamental shrimp it can find. House it in 30+ gallons with good perching spots; it does not swim constantly but needs elevated vantage points where it can survey the tank and make short dashes for food. Do not keep it with cleaner shrimp, pistol shrimp, peppermint shrimp, or small fish under 2 inches; it is an opportunistic predator and those animals will gradually disappear. Feed frozen mysis and meaty small foods twice daily; it eats aggressively and is easy to establish on prepared foods from day one in the tank.
