Care Summary
The Scooter Dragonet has the same basic demands as the Mandarin Dragonet; it requires a mature, copepod-rich system with a large, productive refugium or it will slowly starve. A minimum 30-gallon mature reef with an active 10+ gallon refugium seeded with live copepods is the baseline; without this infrastructure the fish exhausts available prey within weeks. Some Scooter Dragonets adapt more readily than Mandarins to frozen copepods and baby brine; patient daily target feeding can establish this habit, but the tank must also be copepod-rich for the effort to work. Keep away from fast-feeding wrasses and anthias that will outcompete it; even in a well-stocked pod system the dragonet needs a calm feeding environment to stay nourished.
