Care Summary
The Starry Blenny is a larger algae-grazing blenny with a distinctive spotted pattern and big, expressive eyes; it is reef-safe and an effective nuisance algae controller. House it in 55+ gallons with substantial live rock covered in established algae growth; it grazes all day and needs a genuine natural food source, not just supplemental pellets. Supplement its grazing with nori sheets, algae wafers, and spirulina pellets; a Starry Blenny that exhausts the natural algae in its tank will turn to nipping at LPS and zoanthid polyps out of hunger. It can be territorial toward other algae grazers, blennies, and small bottom-dwelling fish; in tanks under 75 gallons it may chase and harass slower, less assertive tankmates.
