Care Summary

The juvenile Yellowtail Wrasse is one of the most vivid fish in the ocean, a glowing red-orange body covered in white spots that looks like it was designed to be impossible to ignore. Here is the catch: the adult looks completely different, transitioning to a blue-green-purple pattern that many hobbyists do not recognize as the same species. Both phases are stunning but require a deep sand bed for sleeping, and skipping this will kill the fish. Do not keep it with ornamental invertebrates you care about; it will eat them.
