Emerald Crab

Care Summary

The Emerald Crab is one of the few invertebrates that will actively hunt and consume bubble algae, making it a targeted solution for Valonia outbreaks that other crew members ignore. It is reef-compatible in most setups but can become opportunistic in under-fed tanks, occasionally nipping at small-polyp stony corals or picking on slow-moving inverts. The key management tip is ensuring the tank has enough supplemental food so it does not resort to hunting: a hungry emerald crab is a destructive one. Feed nori, algae wafers, or meaty foods a few times per week, and it will stay focused on cleanup duties rather than harassing your corals.
