Care Summary
The Fire Shrimp, also called the Blood Shrimp, is one of the most visually commanding invertebrates in the hobby with its deep crimson body and white-spotted antennae, and it doubles as a capable cleaner shrimp. It is peaceful and reef-safe but shy, requiring ample cave and overhang coverage to feel secure enough to venture out regularly and establish a cleaning station. Acclimation is critical: drip acclimate slowly over at least an hour because this species is notoriously sensitive to salinity and pH differentials, and a rushed drip is the most common cause of loss at the retail level. Feed meaty foods like mysis two to three times per week, and over time it will become bolder and more interactive as it grows comfortable with feeding routines and fish traffic near its territory.
