Care Summary

The Sun Anemone is a Caribbean carpet anemone with a flat, mat-like form and powerful stinging cells that make it one of the most aggressive invertebrates you can put in a reef tank. It needs a dedicated species or FOWLR setup with open substrate, strong flow, and bright lighting since it will absolutely destroy any corals or slow-moving fish that wander into its reach. This is not a community tank animal. It should be kept alone or with only the most sting-resistant tankmates, and even then we'd advise extreme caution. Feed generously with meaty foods two to three times weekly to keep it anchored in one spot and satisfied enough not to actively hunt.
