Care Summary
The Filament Flasher Wrasse is prized for the male's dramatic extended dorsal filaments and vivid red-orange coloration; watching a male display is one of the most dazzling things a reef tank can produce. Keep one male with two to four females in 55+ gallons; a lone male will still display occasionally but the behavior is most frequent and intense in the presence of females. A secure lid is mandatory; these wrasses are active jumpers and the filaments make them even more prone to catching on mesh, so use a solid top with small gaps. Feed enriched frozen mysis and brine twice daily; males especially need consistent nutrition to fuel the constant energy output of courtship displays and territorial posturing.
