Care Summary

The Forktail Blenny is a fang blenny species with a forked tail and attractive blue and yellow coloration; unlike some fang blennies it is not aggressive and works well in community reefs. House it in 30+ gallons with open perching spots on the rockwork; it likes to sit in the open and dart after passing food, showing more bold behavior than typical blennies. It has venomous fangs used only in defense when swallowed by a predator; it poses no threat to tankmates and will not bite fish unless severely cornered. Feed frozen mysis and small meaty foods twice daily; it is a carnivore rather than an algae grazer and needs protein-rich food to maintain its coloration and energy level.
