Care Summary
The Goldhead is one of the most beautiful sleeper gobies, with that vivid orange-and-yellow head and the distinctive blue horizontal eye stripe on a bright white body. It processes sand relentlessly, mouthing through substrate to extract meiofauna, which keeps the sand bed stirred and oxygenated. The problem is that it depletes the meiofauna population in a tank over time, so a running refugium is not optional if you want it to stay fat and healthy long-term. Keep only one in smaller systems because same-species aggression is significant in confined spaces.
