The Magenta Dottyback is one of the most affordable and reliably available dottybacks, and that solid magenta-purple color photographs exceptionally well in reef lighting. Feed it frozen mysis and enriched frozen foods and it will take them within the first day in most cases; this species is not a picky eater. Singletons are strongly recommended because two dottybacks in a small system will fight constantly and one will almost always be bullied to death. It is a smart pick for hobbyists who want high visual impact from a small fish without spending serious money.
