Care Summary

Paccagnella's Dottyback is a vivid bicolor fish split purple and yellow; it has bold dottyback personality and works in reef tanks with careful tankmate selection. House it in 30+ gallons with rockwork and caves; it claims a territory and will chase similarly sized fish that venture too close, but in a larger tank with well-defined zones this is manageable. Feed frozen mysis and meaty small foods twice daily; it eats aggressively and is easy to establish on prepared foods from day one, making it one of the least fussy dottybacks to feed. Captive-bred specimens are available and preferred; they are hardier, eat better, and spare wild populations in the Coral Triangle where this species originates.
