Magnificent Foxface
Siganus magnificus
Reef Safe
With Caution
Care Summary
The Magnificent Foxface is a close relative of the standard Foxface with slightly different patterning; care is identical, including the venomous dorsal spines that make handling dangerous. House it in 75+ gallons; it is a robust algae grazer that needs room to cruise the rockwork and glass throughout the day and becomes restless and dull in cramped quarters. Feed nori clips and herbivore blends in addition to natural algae grazing; the caution label reflects its occasional tendency to nip coral polyps when algae is scarce. Never handle it with bare hands; the dorsal spines deliver a painful, medically significant sting that can cause swelling, nausea, and prolonged discomfort requiring professional medical attention.
