Care Summary
The Neon Dottyback is a vivid orange and yellow fish that is reef-safe and more adaptable than its bold coloration suggests; it is a good choice for reefers who want dottyback personality without extreme aggression. House it in 30+ gallons with rockwork for shelter; it claims a cave or crevice as home base and defends it assertively but is less murderous toward tankmates than Purple or Orchid Dottybacks. Feed frozen mysis and meaty small foods twice daily; it is a carnivore that eats aggressively and is one of the easier dottybacks to establish on a prepared food regimen. Captive-bred specimens from ORA and similar operations are readily available and significantly more adaptable than wild-caught fish; always opt for CB when you have the choice.
