Purple Firefish

Care Summary

The Purple Firefish is the premium version of the standard Firefish with deeper purple and red coloration; care is identical but the colors are more vivid and the price reflects that. House it in 20+ gallons with calm tankmates; any chasing or nipping fish will drive the Purple Firefish into permanent hiding where it will stop eating and gradually decline. A bonded pair is spectacular in a nano reef; two Purple Firefish hovering together near a cave entrance, occasionally retreating and re-emerging, is one of the most elegant displays available in a small tank. Secure the lid; like all Nemateleotris species it will jump when startled, and the first few nights after introduction are the highest-risk period for escape attempts.
