Wheeler's Prawn Goby is an attractive shrimp goby with orange and white banding that pairs reliably with Alpheid pistol shrimp; the goby-shrimp pairing is one of the best behavioral partnerships you can set up in a reef. House it in 20+ gallons with a sand bed of 3+ inches for the shrimp to excavate; without proper substrate depth the shrimp cannot build a burrow and the partnership never fully develops. Feed frozen mysis and meaty small foods twice daily near the burrow entrance; the goby does not roam far from the burrow to eat and will be outcompeted in open-water broadcast feeding scenarios. Secure the lid; gobies jump when startled, especially during the first days before they have established their home burrow and feel comfortable in the new environment.
