30K Leagues Lokani
Acropora sp.
Recommended from the shop
Care Summary
30K Leagues Lokani is an Acropora strain with Atlantis Aquarium lineage, named and coloured like something from the deep. It has a purple, deepwater-style appearance — smooth, sparsely branched growth in rich purple — with glowing tips that catch the light like points of brightness in dark water. That combination of deep purple tissue and luminous tips is the signature, and it gives the coral a very different presence from brighter, bushier acros.
Care
This is an advanced Acropora for a mature SPS system. Provide high light and strong, random flow, but be measured when acclimating: deepwater-style acros can react badly to sudden intensity, so raise light gradually. Alkalinity stability is essential, with calcium and magnesium kept in balance and nutrients low but present. Test regularly, and favour long periods of unchanged, stable conditions over frequent adjustments.
Placement and growth
Place it at the top of the rockwork once acclimated, in strong light and turbulent flow, mounted securely for moderate branching growth. It is peaceful, but give it clear space so its branches are not shaded or stung by neighbours. Glowing tips on new growth are the clearest sign it has adjusted to its position.
Identification notes
In the hobby this strain is often attributed to Acropora lokani, but that attribution is unverified. It should be treated as a hobby identification only, and the coral is listed here simply as Acropora sp.
