Care Summary
Acropora brueggemanni sits between staghorn and bottlebrush in form, producing tapered branches that build into an open, upright colony. Aquacultured pieces are most often brown-green through the body with blue tips, the contrast sharpening under strong light and stable chemistry. Growth is moderate once the colony has encrusted and found its rhythm.
Care
An advanced Acropora for a mature, stable SPS system. Keep alkalinity as steady as you can — stability matters more than chasing a particular number — and hold calcium and magnesium consistent so new growth stays strong. It appreciates high light, roughly PAR 250–400, ramped up gradually for new frags, with medium to high random flow that changes direction rather than a constant jet on one side. Look for an encrusting base and regular polyp extension as signs it has settled; dull colour usually means light, nutrients, or chemistry are drifting rather than a single obvious fault.
Placement and growth
A top placement suits it best, in open water where its branches can spread. Keep at least 2 in of clearance from surrounding corals, and a little extra in the direction of strongest growth. Fix it firmly to the rockwork, let the base encrust before judging progress, and avoid repeated repositioning, which sets staghorn-type Acropora back noticeably.
