Everlasting Gobstopper
Palythoa sp.
Also known as: Everlasting Gobstoppers
Care Summary
Everlasting Gobstopper is a Palythoa strain that reworks the classic Gobstopper palette: a red face, yellow mouth, and blue skirt and tentacles framing the polyp instead of a blue centre. That blue fringe gives the whole colony a cooler outline, so a group reads red and gold at the centre with a blue haze around it. It is a tier 2 strain, a favourite variant for paly keepers who love the original but want a different accent.
Care
Keep it low to mid-rockwork under medium light and medium flow through the mat. As an easy Palythoa it asks mainly for consistency: measurable nutrients in the water, since zoanthids sulk in ultra-clean water, and stable alkalinity without sudden jumps. Good flow keeps debris out of the mat and the big polyps fully expanded. Growth is fast once settled. Handle with gloves and eye protection when fragging (palytoxin caution).
Keeping and spread
Everlasting Gobstopper spreads by fast mat growth, so plan its footprint early. Give the colony about 2 in of space, and consider an isolated rock if slower corals are nearby, because a vigorous mat with moderate aggression can smother neighbours simply by covering them. To frag, cut the mat between polyps, transfer the section to a plug, and return it to similar light and flow while it heals and attaches.
