Nightmare

Nightmare is a Zoanthus strain with a black face surrounded by orange-red rings, a stark, Halloween-toned pattern that makes each polyp look like a glowing eye in the dark. True black on the disc is uncommon in zoanthids, and the bright ring makes the darkness read as intentional pattern rather than shadow. It is a Tier 2 name, well known among collectors assembling darker or high-contrast zoanthid gardens.

Care

It is listed for low to medium lighting with medium flow, suited to the bottom to middle of the tank where its black face is not bleached by intense light. Keep nutrients measurable — zoanthids sulk in ultra-clean water — alkalinity stable, and flow passing through the mat. Rated easy in care difficulty, it is a forgiving strain that mainly asks for stable placement and a measured light acclimation.

Keeping and spread

Growth is moderate and mat-forming. The colony spreads across rock and can smother slower neighbours, so provide about 2 in of separation or an isolated position. Aggression is moderate. Frag by cutting the mat between polyps and mounting the piece; keep frags in low to medium light and moderate flow until healed and opening fully.
