Diana's Hogfish
Bodianus diana
Reef Safe
With Caution
Care Summary
Diana's Hogfish is a smaller, more manageable hogfish that maxes out around 5 inches; it is a better option for hobbyists who want hogfish personality in a 55-gallon rather than a 150. It is labeled caution because it will eat ornamental shrimp and small crabs without hesitation; your cleanup crew will need to be limited to snails and larger urchins if you keep one. Feed frozen meaty foods including mysis, silversides, and shrimp twice daily; hogfish are active and burn calories, so consistent feeding keeps them from hunting harder in the tank. They are bold, curious, and learn to recognize their keeper quickly; among the most personable reef fish available and worth the invert trade-off for many reefers.
