Twospot Hogfish

Care Summary

The Twospot Hogfish is one of the smaller hogfish species at 4 inches, making it more compatible with mid-size tanks than the larger Spanish or Lyretail Hogfish relatives. House it in 55+ gallons; it is active and needs open swimming space but will not overwhelm a medium reef the way a full-sized hogfish would. Do not keep it with ornamental shrimp; like all hogfish it will methodically hunt and eat cleaner shrimp, pistol shrimp, and peppermint shrimp without hesitation. Feed frozen meaty foods including mysis and chopped seafood twice daily; it eats aggressively from day one and is one of the easier predatory fish to establish on prepared foods in captivity.
