Care Summary

The Dusky Wrasse is a reliable mid-size wrasse that develops genuinely impressive coloration when the dominant male matures under quality reef lighting. It forages constantly across rocks and sand, picking off copepods, amphipods, and the occasional bristleworm, which earns it real keep in a system. Like all Halichoeres it needs sand to sleep in, and going to bare bottom or shallow substrate will stress it over time. It is a solid choice for reefers who want a useful working wrasse that also happens to look excellent in a reef context.
