Care Summary
The Golden Wrasse (Canary Wrasse) is the best beginner wrasse in the hobby, and recommending anything else to a newcomer who wants a wrasse is doing them a disservice. It eats frozen food within hours of arrival in most cases, adds a bright pop of solid yellow to the tank, and actively hunts bristleworms without ever touching a coral. It sleeps in the sand so you need at least 2 inches of substrate, and it will bury itself completely at night in a way that can alarm new keepers who think the fish has disappeared. For the price and ease of care, there is nothing close to it in the wrasse world.
