Queen Angelfish

Care Summary

The Queen Angelfish is one of the most iconic Atlantic fish with its brilliant blue and yellow adult coloration and distinctive crown spot; plan for 150+ gallons minimum for an adult. Like all large Holacanthus angels it will devastate a coral reef; keep it in a FOWLR system where it can be fed generously with sponge-based angel foods, nori, mysis, and varied frozen blends. Juvenile Queen Angels will act as cleaner fish, removing parasites from other tank inhabitants; this behavior fades as they mature but adds an interesting early dynamic to the tank. Only one large angel per system; Queens are highly territorial toward other large angels and will battle persistently in any tank that does not give them clear physical separation.
