Care Summary
The Red Sea Mimic Blenny mimics the Meiacanthus nigrolineatus fang blenny to gain protection from predators; the mimicry is convincing enough that even experienced aquarists do a double-take. House it in 30+ gallons with rockwork for perching; it is more of an open-water blenny than most algae grazers and will be visible regularly once it settles in and feels secure. Feed frozen mysis, enriched brine, and quality pellets twice daily; it is a carnivore rather than an algae grazer and needs protein-rich food to maintain its coloration and energy. It is peaceful and reef-safe; the bold mimicry behavior is fascinating once you understand it, and it makes for an interesting talking point when fellow reefers visit the tank.
