Care Summary
The Swallowtail is one of the cleanest endorsements of reef-safe angelfish ownership because, as a planktivore, it genuinely does not care about your corals. Sexual dimorphism is extreme: males are horizontally striped in black and white with a lyretail, and females are bright yellow dorsally with black spotting, to the point where they look like different species. It needs consistent current to hover in and multiple feedings of small planktonic foods per day to maintain body condition. For the reefer who wants angel behavior without the coral anxiety, this is the right choice.
