Yasha Goby

Care Summary

The Yasha Goby is a stunning white goby with red and orange markings that pairs with Alpheid pistol shrimp; the pairing produces one of the most visually impressive goby-shrimp partnerships in the reef hobby. House it in 20+ gallons with a deep fine sand bed for the shrimp burrow; the substrate depth is critical because the shrimp does all the excavation work and needs proper material to work with. Feed frozen mysis and meaty small foods twice daily near the burrow entrance; the Yasha is not a roaming feeder and will be consistently outcompeted if food is delivered only at the surface. The Yasha is one of the more skittish gobies initially; give it a week to acclimate before judging how visible it will be long-term, because once settled with its shrimp partner it becomes a reliable feature of the display.
