Care Summary
Brittle Stars are fast, secretive detritivores that spend their days tucked into rockwork and emerge at night to scavenge leftover food and organic matter across the sandbed. They are reef-safe and peaceful with fish and invertebrates, well-suited to tanks of 30 gallons or more with plenty of rockwork for cover, and multiple individuals can coexist without conflict. The biggest challenge is that they are extremely sensitive to temperature spikes and rapid salinity changes during acclimation, so take the time to drip-acclimate properly before adding to the display. Feed by dropping meaty foods like mysis or chopped silversides near their hiding spots a few times a week, particularly if the tank is kept very clean.
