Care Summary
The Banded Coral Shrimp, also called the Boxing Shrimp by many hobbyists, is a bold and territorial invertebrate with long white-and-red banded claws that it uses to defend its chosen cave. Keep only one per tank or a mated pair, as same-species aggression is intense and will result in one animal being killed in most cases, particularly in smaller systems. Its claws can also harass smaller or slower fish that wander too close to its territory, so pair it with confident, medium-sized tankmates that will steer clear. Feed meaty foods directly to its territory two to three times per week; it is a capable carnivore that will take mysis, silversides, and small pieces of seafood without hesitation.
