Care Summary
The Green Brittle Star is a large, fast-moving scavenger with olive-green arms that can span 12 inches or more across a mature reef tank. Unlike most brittle stars, the Green Brittle Star has a documented history of ambushing and consuming small sleeping fish, so it should not be kept with small or slow fish like firefish, small gobies, or dragonets. It thrives in tanks of 75 gallons or more with substantial rockwork for cover, and its large size and active nature make it unsuitable for smaller nano systems. Feed directly with meaty chunks of fish, shrimp, or squid several times per week, placing food near its den to prevent it from actively hunting tank inhabitants out of hunger.
