Long Tentacle Anemone
Macrodactyla doreensis
Reef Safe
With Caution
Care Summary
The Long Tentacle Anemone is a bold, column-heavy hosting anemone that buries its base in sand and extends long, sticky tentacles across a wide area of the tank floor. It is a natural host for clownfish and will readily host Clark's, Tomato, and other non-Ocellaris species, making it a great pairing option for customers who want a hosting display. The challenge is wandering during acclimation and the sweep radius of its tentacles, which can reach and sting corals several inches away, so plan placement with clear buffer zones. Feed meaty foods like silverside or krill once or twice a week once settled, and give it strong lighting and consistent water quality to maintain a well-inflated, anchored column.
