Care Summary
The Marble Shrimp is a large, visually interesting omnivore with a mottled white and brown pattern, and it functions as a sand-sifting detritivore that actively turns and cleans the substrate. It is best kept in fish-only or FOWLR systems, as its size and feeding behavior make it a risk to soft corals, small ornamental invertebrates, and anything slow enough for it to catch. Water quality sensitivity is notable in this species; it does poorly in tanks with elevated nutrients or unstable parameters, and is one of the first animals to show behavioral stress when something is off. Feed meaty foods like shrimp, squid, and chopped seafood several times per week, and supplement with algae-based foods to satisfy its omnivorous dietary range and keep it from foraging aggressively.
